National Basketball Retired Players Association

Bringing Basketball History to Life With Animation, Branding and Storytelling

Gary Payton and Desmond Mason illustrated in a NBA Jam style for NBRPA

Overview

The Ask
The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) wanted to launch Legends Jam, a new animated series spotlighting basketball greats with a mix of humor, nostalgia, and cultural relevance. They needed full creative and production support to develop the visual identity, bring the characters to life, and create an animated world that felt bold, fresh, and rooted in the game.

The Approach
We built a creative system from the ground up. Our team handled everything from concept development and character design to animation direction, branding, and post.

The show blends retro video game aesthetics with original music, celebrity cameos, and authentic storytelling. It’s part tribute, part comedy, and part creative time capsule, made to connect with fans and future viewers.

Key Deliverables

  • Complete brand identity and logo suite
  • Animation direction and production
  • Character design and illustration
  • Series intro and episode assets
  • Branded content and motion graphics
  • Event creative and show launch visuals

The Impact
The result was a clean, unified brand identity that bridges the past and future. From iconic names like Charles Barkley and Alonzo Mourning to a younger audience discovering the stories, our work gave NBRPA the tools to connect, inspire, and grow.
