Crafting Connected Athlete Stories From Across the Map

Lauren Schad AKQA Nike

Overview

The Challenge
AKQA and Nike needed to tell a unified story across multiple athletes located in entirely different places. With no central shoot and limited in-person production, the challenge was to create high-quality, emotionally resonant content without ever bringing talent into the same room.

Our Approach
We developed a dynamic remote production strategy focused on story cohesion and strong visual identity. Our team:

  • Produced short-form video episodes for social platforms
  • Used motion graphics and animation to bridge physical distance
  • Maintained a consistent, high-energy look and feel across all episodes
  • Captured cultural nuance and personality from each athlete’s POV

The featured talent included standout Native athletes like Lyle Thompson, Madison Hammond, Lauren Schad, and Kyrie Irving—each sharing their story through the lens of heritage, sport, and identity.

Key Deliverables

  • Remote short-form video content
  • Branded motion graphics package
  • Visual storytelling system
  • Social-first campaign content

The Impact
The campaign delivered seamless storytelling and strong audience engagement across Nike and AKQA channels. It proved that even from remote locations, stories could feel personal, unified, and powerful—elevating performance while staying culturally grounded.
